Education sessions will cover topics in the following tracks, across three key topic areas:

Business Intelligence

Oracle Business Intelligence Tools and Technology (OBIEE)

This track is intended to help audiences understand the current Oracle BI platform and related tools (also referred to as BI Foundation) along with other technical BI subjects, products and solutions, including Oracle BI Mobile and Engineered Systems. This track covers BI Server, Architecture, Design and Performance Tuning content, along with exciting new 11g features such as the Visualization Recommendation Engine, Performance Tiles, Waterfall Graphs, Map Views and Stacked Charts, Breadcrumbs, Trellis View Actions, Freeze Headers and searching with Endeca MDEX. OBIEE Server enhancements, such as Hadoop Integration, Model Checker, Binary Large Object Data, IBM WebSphere Application Server Support are also included in this track.

Oracle BI Mobile enhancements for discussion include mobile BI Publisher content and the new Oracle BI Mobile Security Toolkit. Integration topics include Essbase integration and also the substantial enhanced integration of Oracle BI with Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office. Engineered Systems covers the Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine and its underlying technology.

Oracle Business Intelligence Applications (OBIA)

The OBIA track covers all items related to the BI Applications, including Human Resources, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Project Management, Procurement, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Enterprise Asset Management. This track examines the BI Applications from the perspective of Analytic Applications by Business Role, Product Line and Industry. Topics of discussion include sample OBIA project implementations, the importance of training and education for business intelligence rollouts, and best practices in reference to reporting strategy and execution. This track will also cover exciting new OpenWorld 2013 announcements regarding the BI Applications working together with Endeca.

Big Data

This track consists of all aspects of Big Data, and specifically Oracle Business Intelligence for Analyzing Big Data. Topics of discussion include high performance analytics and engineered systems for Big Data. Specific topics include Hadoop, Hadoop Map Reduce, NoSQL, weblog files, social media postings, website comments, sensor information, online profiles, weblogs, forum comments, key trends, HDFS, key value database, member ID, batch and real time strategy and design.

Straightforward approaches on how to acquire big data, organize big data and analyze big data will be discussed. Other topics include Oracle Data Integrator for Big Data and Oracle GoldenGate.

Endeca Information Discovery (Unstructured Data)

The Endeca track addresses the concept and the solution for exploring information from any source, be it structured, semi-structured and unstructured data and how this can help draw new conclusions and insights faster than ever before, all without heavy reliance on IT. Topics include state-of-the-art search capabilities, interactive visualizations, drag and drop application composition, contextual navigation, text enrichment using theme and entity extraction.

Reduced timelines for delivering analytics and how to leverage existing investments in BI are also discussed. The Endeca Server, OEID Studio, OEID Integrator, Text Enrichment and Text Enrichment with Sentiment Analysis are covered in depth.

Enterprise Performance Management

Oracle Hyperion Financial Close and Reporting

Are you and your organization looking to achieve a world class close process or expedite your reporting to management and the external reporting authorities? This track contains product overviews, tips and tricks, and implementation success stories that can help you meet that goal. Sessions provide process-based best practices to help you reduce closing cycles, accelerate reporting cycles, improve transparency and compliance and meet GAAP and IFRS standards as well as technology-based best practices within the Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Financial Data Quality Management (FDQM), Close Management, Accounts Reconciliation (ARM), Tax Module and Disclosure Management applications. Sessions are geared towards anyone participating in or supporting the consolidations, reporting and financial close process including CAOs, CFOs, controllers, financial analysts and systems administrators.

Oracle Hyperion Budgeting, Planning and Forecasting

Interested in shortening planning cycles, improving the accuracy of plans and forecasts, fostering collaboration or enhancing business predictability? This track is dedicated to helping you do just that. Sessions cover best practices in budgeting and planning and customer success stories as well as tips and tricks within the Oracle Hyperion Planning, Capital Asset Planning, Workforce Planning and Strategic Finance applications. Sessions are geared towards anyone participating in or supporting the budgeting and planning process including end users, planning and financial analysts, department heads, executives and system administrators. Learn about Hyperion Planning and Essbase from these focused sessions.

Oracle Business Intelligence/Essbase

In today’s economy, end users need information faster and in a format customized to their level of experience. Business Intelligence System Administrators need streamlined systems to support the growing volume of data as well as the complex requirements of end users. This track has sessions dedicated to best-in-class Business Intelligence solutions using Oracle’s Business Intelligence suite of 15+ products including OBIEE+ and the Oracle BI Applications suite. Hear how customers are addressing the insatiable demand for real time intelligence to improve overall business performance and learn how you can achieve the same results. See how customers use Oracle EPM applications such as Essbase, Crystal Ball, and Oracle BI Applications to make sense of the past, and to see the future. Attendees include all stakeholders in the reporting and analysis process: end users, management, system administrators, ETL architects, long-range strategic planners, developers and data modelers.

Emerging Products and Technologies

Oracle is releasing and acquiring new products all the time! Oracle Endeca Information Discovery, just released last quarter, is a great example of what this exciting new track will present-brand new innovative products in the BI or EPM space. This track will provide information and overviews on products and trends that all customers need to stay knowledgeable and up-to-date on. Are your executives becoming mobile and want all of the new technology? Are you leveraging the Geospatial Analytics in OBIEE 11g? Sessions in this track will help you understand what is really available right now, what is coming and how to plan your next steps.

Learn about products like Oracle Hyperion’s new modules around Planning and HFM like the Tax Provisioning Module, Financial Close Management with Accounts Reconciliation Management, Project Financial Planning, Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services and other leading-edge technologies.

Attendees for sessions in this track should include all stakeholders in the EPM process: end users, management, system administrators, long range strategic planners, developers and data modelers.

Infrastructure/Technical

Technical infrastructure is the foundation of any successful EPM solution. With a reliable foundation, IT and implementation teams can focus on delivering on client requirements. This track has sessions dedicated to best practices focused on delivering secure, efficient, and scalable solutions. Sessions cover topics such as installations and configurations, migration and upgrade strategies, performance tuning, system administration and support, sizing an Oracle EPM install, providing high availability features, and providing Hyperion environments in the cloud. With the rollout of version 11.1.2.2 and the most recent rollout of 11.1.2.3, attendees will be provided with the information they need to help guide their future Hyperion initiatives.

Oracle E-Business Suite

Oracle E-Business Suite Technical

This track is dedicated to providing information about the technical steps involved in upgrading to Release 12.1, including discussions about real-life experiences with tuning and optimizing the Release 12.1 upgrade process, and case studies of customer Release 12.1 upgrade experiences. Possible Fusion middleware topics include data integration, identity management, service-oriented architecture, web experience management, and JVM diagnostics and monitoring. Other topics include cloning and tools to help make upgrading simpler, including iSetup, Patch Wizard, Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle Application Management Suite, Forms Personalization, UPK, testing and training tools. Release 12.2 topics include how WebLogic will work with E-Business Suite Release 12.2, the difference between WebLogic and Apache, and how to change customization practices now to lay the groundwork for Release 12.2.

Oracle E-Business Suite Functional

This track will discuss upgrading/implementing Release 12.1 from a functional perspective for the Financials, Procurement, CRM, HR/Payroll, Manufacturing families and more. Topics cover the entire Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 upgrade/implementation lifecycle, including new features and functionality, leveraging Oracle E-Business Suite Extensions for Oracle Endeca, and utilizing Release 12.1 after the upgrade. This track will also highlight a number of best practices, lessons learned, and case studies from customers who are leveraging the newest capabilities of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.

Oracle E-Business Suite Strategy and Roadmap

This track will focus on the overall strategy of Oracle applications, and will include sessions to help you maximize the value of your applications investment, accelerate your implementation timelines and business results, and optimize your post-implementation monitoring. Possible topics include: a review of Oracle’s Technology Stack Certification Roadmap, understanding how to address security, risk, and compliance, leveraging the Oracle E-Business Suite Endeca applications, and best practices, tips and tools for maximizing the value of Oracle Support.
